Raspberry Ketones – Clinical Studies
Raspberry Ketone and Cellulite Reduction
Even if you haven’t heard about raspberry ketone, you will recognize that smell: it is the sweet smell of raspberries, easily found in a grocery store or fruit market. It is used frequently in giving creams and lotions their raspberry fragrance – but it does much more than that. It also plays a big role in body fat reduction, kind of the way in which zingerone (extracted from fresh ginger) is sometimes used to help patients suffering from obesity.
Another relevant comparison could be made to capsaicin, which is best recognized that the compound which gives spicy peppers their kick (and also helps speed up the body’s metabolism). Raspberry ketone works in a similar way, though It is not exactly alike any of these other compounds. There’s something special about raspberry ketone.
In 2004, a group of Japanese scientists isolated the raspberry ketone enzyme and decided to test its effect on the plague which is regularly killing millions of people: obesity. To determine what would result, the scientists first fed the mice a high fat diet. Then they gave them various amounts of the enzyme, ranging from zero percent of their food to as much as 2%.
This went on for several months. At the end of the trial, there was no denying the power of the raspberry ketone enzyme. The more the enzyme was taken, the less fat was stored, even though the food was generally high fat. Several studies followed, and demonstrated similar results.
So what about Cellulite?
A huge part of battling cellulite is simply to reduce the overall amount of fat in the body. Raspberry ketone does this, and more. It provides a huge health boost that may leave you surprised. It is easy to consume, because there is no unpleasant taste (red raspberries are nicely tart), and you can eat a whole box and still remain guilt-free since they contain only a minimum of calories.
The raspberries are also rich in fiber. Fiber, you may know, expands in your stomach and creates the sensation of being “full.” When you eat fiber, you fill up fast, so you don’t overeat and pack on the added pounds. And of course, it contains antioxidants which help keep your skin firm and elastic, so you are less prone to cellulite in the first place. This is the first step in reducing cellulite.
Raspberry Ketone Topically?
When you aren’t putting those delicious raspberries in your mouth, you could be getting your raspberry ketone fix another way: topically. Although it is not a replacement for adding more of the enzyme into your diet, it can certainly be successful when used in conjunction with a diet change.
The best time to use this topical cream would be right before or just after you finish exercising. This is because this is when your body is best ready to absorb its active ingredients. You shouldn’t really eat for a while before because this will, in fact, make the raspberry ketone less effective – eating after, however, is not really a big deal.
Cellulite is an uncomfortable subject to broach and may seem intimidating when you just want to look good. However, there are many ways to combat it, including through the use of supplements like raspberry ketone. And thank goodness, because leaving it alone is not really a choice when you can’t quite make it into the bathing suit for summer. Always look out for the raspberry ketone supplement or topical cream.
